AQ vs KK

Hi again guys,

Had a sick hand yesterday in the casino.
When I arrived at the table, I bought in for € 150 at the 2/2 no limit table. Won a couple and lost a couple of pots, but my stack was at € 300 at the moment.
I looked at my cards, got the cowboys, KK. So I raised to € 20 from the cutoff, the Small blind raised to € 100. He had € 104 left, so i put him allin. He calls with AQ suited, and he hits his A on the river. That was pretty sick, but things like that happen. Normally I wouldn't feel that bad about it, but the player insulted me a couple of times. He told me to hurry up and not to think so long. (It was in a hand where I had JJ and there was an A on the board) I felt like I had to take him down for a good pot. so I had about aa € 100 left and bought in for antoher € 300 so I was stacked for € 400, which was about the same ize as his stack. Few hands later I got dealt pocket 10's, so I raise, he calls. Flop comes: a J-5-2. He immediately bets, but I knew from previous hands he does that also with bottom and medium pair, so I raised all-in, he immediately calls. He turns over his card: 95 offsuit!!???? so I won the hand with my pocket 10's and got my money back from him. Few hands later he leaves the table and I'm happy to go home with another € 200 profit.

When i got home I played online a bit more and have my bankroll at $175 after catching some nice cards. (3x AA in half an hour :D)

I keep you guys updated!

played in the live casino again

So I went to the casino again yesterday, but couldn't catch some good cards.
I managed to grab a very nice pot (about €350,-) with AJ suited. My opponent had AQ of diamonds, and hit a straight flush, straight and a flush draw on the flop. he was in first, and keep betting untill the river, he didn't outdraw me, but there was a K and a J on the flop and I thought he might have AK. but when he pushed all-in on the river, I knew he didn't have it, so I called him. turned out he had AQ, so I took down the pot with my AJ with the J paired.

Played a couple of hands online too, but my bankroll keeps swinging between $75 and $130, it seems I can't get above that at the moment. But I have patience, so it will grow.

Thanks for reading my blog and I keep posting!

played in a live casino

I went to a live casino yesterday evening and played there for about 6 hours or so.
I played a 2/2 no limit table and bought in for the maximum amount, €400,-

It was a bit of a sick night, everytime I got a hand like AQ, the guy i played with had AK. Not that big a deal when I hit my Q on the flop, but it really is frustrating when he hits his K on the river.
I got a couple of bad beats like that, but also managed to take a €700,- euro pot by the following hand:

I was on the button with T9 of diamonds. I called a raise from MP3, who had KJ of clubs. SB called with pocket Jacks.

On to the flop:

K of diamonds, 8 of clubs, Q of diamonds. so I picked up a gutshot straight (flush) draw and a flush daw.

SB makes a bet of about half the pot, MP3 calls, and I call too.

The turn:

J of diamonds!!!!!!! Oh my god, I made a straight flush!!!!! And with my 2 hole cards, so it's a very desceptive hand!

SB makes a potsize bet (he had hit his set of course), Mp3 calls (he had 2 pair), and I make a complete hollywood show of it, try to figure out by talking to the other players what hands they could have to make a bet and call such a bet. Even said that I'd better fold ;) but wanted to see 1 card. Be afraid of diamonts guys!! ;)

The river:

K of spades!!!! Oh my god, this is the best card that could come! Now SB and MP3 mak their full houses, SB has Jacks full, MP3 has Kings full, but since I have the straight flush, I'm the winner!!!

Since I said i needed another diamonds on the river and it didn't came, they took out the straight flush possibilities.
So the SB goes all-in, MP3 goes all-in, making the pot about 500, and with my 200 left, I call of course.

The both show their cards with a big smile: I've got a full house, So do I. I look a bit sad and told the I have a straight, but also a flush. Hej, I've got a straight flush!!!!!!

I'll never forget the look on their faces :D it was the evry best moment of the night!

SB gets angry and asks me how the hell i could call his bet on the flop, while he was the one who flopped a 2-outer. I had the best drawing hand.

When went home my € 400,- buyin grow to € 820,-, so I did a nice double up.

Bankroll stats

i managed to build my bankroll up to $375 in one week playing on the NL25 tables, but after playing in the weekend, i got a lot of bad beats and fishy calls, like this hand:

I was in MP3:

$0.25/$0.50 No Limit Holdem
10 players
Converted at weaktight.com

Stacks:
UTG ($54.80)
UTG+1 ($13.85)
UTG+2 ($58.20)
MP1 ($1.15)
MP2 ($80.45)
MP3 ($39.95)
CO ($50.00)
BTN ($48.25)
SB ($66.75)
BB ($56.70)

Pre-flop: ($0.75, 10 players)
UTG bets $1.50, 4 folds, MP3 calls $1.50, 4 folds

Flop: ($3.75, 2 players)
UTG bets $5, MP3 calls $5.

Turn: ($13.75, 2 players)
UTG bets $15, MP3 calls $15.

River: ($43.75, 2 players)
UTG goes all-in $33.30, MP3 goes all-in $18.45

Final Pot: $95.5
UTG shows:
MP3 shows:

UTG wins $94 ( won +$39.2 )
MP3 lost -$39.95

i mean, the guy calls a raise with K3 suited from UTG, hit bottom pair!!!!!!! on the flop, calls all oversized bets (without any draws) and then he hits his 2 pair on the river.

Hands like this will get you on tilt, and it's really frustrating. therefore my bankroll dropped to about $40, but after playing the last two days, it's up to 130 again, so i keep going.
I just won't play in weekends anymore ;)

Welcome!

Hi guys,

First of all I'd like to welcome you to my blog.
I've been playing poker for a year now and thought it would be nice to share my story with you.
IMy first poker impresion came from the movie Rounders, but I didn't get the hang of it at that time. Several years later, I saw some movies on youtube about poker and was really interested, so I start learning the game. The basic were pretty simple and I thought it was easy to play poker, the No Limit Hold-em version. Man, was I wrong at that point!!! The basics are not too hard to learn, but playing the game properly is one hell of a thing to do! But i thought reading books and articles and participating in forums wasn't necessary and I could play my own game and win. None of this was true, I lost a sh*tload of money while playing, so I'd had to improve my game.
So i start off reading books, articles, watching video's, etc, etc and almost immediately i noticed I waas the biggest fish in poker history. I adapt my game, and by putting the tactics i've learned to the test in the online and live pokerrooms, i'd start winning a pot here and there just by "playing by the book."
For example, I didn't put all my chips in the middle with bottom pair with ace kicker ;) as soon as I learned a bit how to play, poker became more and more interesting for me.
I made some deposits here and there, lost all of it, and I said to myself that there must be a change in my style to keep winning. Now, a year further, I'm still not the best poker player in the world, but I know how to handle mostly. I stopped depositing more money at the online pokerrooms and searched for bonusses, sites who offer some bonus moeny you can play with to learn poker, like pokerroomschool or pokerstrategy.
With bonusses like that, I started a new poker life from scratch with just a $50,- bonus as of march 27 2008. I've said to myself that this is going to be it, I'll create a poker life for me and grow my bankroll to more than 10,000 dollars. I don't have a time limit, but if i go broke, I'll stop playing poker for the rest of my life (maybe not, but now I think so ;))

I'll keep you guys updated!
